Project Overview
Columbia Engineering Group is providing full-scope architectural and engineering services for Grace Slavic Baptist Church in Spokane, Washington. The project includes a new 38,000 square foot worship and education facility designed to serve a growing congregation with coordinated building systems, site development, and utility infrastructure.
The two-story wood-frame building combines a 16,000 square foot sanctuary with a 22,000 square foot school wing. In addition, the facility includes classrooms, a dining hall, and a full commercial kitchen. CEG is delivering an integrated design across all disciplines to support consistency from concept through construction documents.
Facility Program
This project brings together worship, education, and support spaces within one coordinated facility. Therefore, the design had to address both Assembly and Education occupancies while supporting day-to-day function for a growing church community.
At the same time, the building needed modern infrastructure, strong life safety systems, and efficient coordination across multiple disciplines. As a result, CEG developed the project as a fully sprinklered facility with comprehensive building systems and a unified design approach.
Engineering Scope of Work
CEG is providing coordinated design across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines. Overall, the scope includes building systems, site development, utility coordination, BIM-based design, and permitting support.
🏛️ Worship and Education Facility Design
CEG is designing a two-story wood-frame building that combines a 16,000 square foot sanctuary with a 22,000 square foot school wing, including classrooms, a dining hall, and a full commercial kitchen.
🔥 Life Safety and Fire Protection
The facility is being designed as a fully sprinklered building with comprehensive life safety systems to support both Assembly and Education occupancies.
🌿 Site Development and Utilities
CEG is providing full site development design, supporting infrastructure, and utility coordination to serve the new facility and the needs of the congregation.
🧩 Integrated Multidiscipline Coordination
CEG is delivering a fully integrated design across all disciplines. As a result, the project benefits from streamlined coordination and stronger consistency throughout design development.
💻 BIM-Based Design
All design work is being developed in a coordinated BIM environment to reduce conflicts and improve construction efficiency.
📋 Permitting Leadership
CEG is also leading the permitting process to help maintain schedule and support alignment with local agency requirements.
Project Outcome
Grace Slavic Baptist Church is being designed as a new worship and education campus that combines sanctuary space, classrooms, dining, and kitchen functions within one coordinated facility. Through integrated architectural and engineering services, CEG is helping shape a project that supports both current needs and future congregational growth.
Just as importantly, the project combines full site development, utility coordination, life safety design, BIM-based coordination, and permitting support. As a result, CEG is helping move the project forward with a more unified and construction-ready design process.
